The B-52s are still the World’s Greatest Party Band.  Naming themselves after Southern slang for exaggerated ‘bouffant’ hairdos, the newly-christened The B-52s turned weekend road trips into gigs.  A record deal soon followed and their self-titled debut disc sold more than 500,000 copies. The B-52s created a mix of songs, styles, phrases and images that would set the standard for the development of the ‘alternative music scene’ for the next decade.  Their album Cosmic Thing proved to be the greatest commercial achievement for the group, and its success propelled the band to international superstars.

Singer-songwriter Jake Owen hit the charts with his first two singles, “Yee Haw” and “Startin’ with Me.”  Owen soon went on tour with some of the biggest names in country music such as Kenny Chesney, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban.  Owen’s revival of “Life in a Northern Town” with Sugarland and Little Big Town earned him Grammy and CMA Award nominations.  In 2009, Owen was named Top New Male Vocalist by the Academy of Country Music.
