Bryce Parks

Co-Founder, Publisher & Director of Creative Services

Bryce Parks is an award-winning media designer. He is the creator and publisher of Dubuque365.com and 365ink Magazine. Bryce holds a degree in Communications from the University of Northern Iowa. He served as Communications Coordinator for the Dubuque Community School District and as an adjunct professor for Clarke College.

Over the past decade, many organizations, including the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce, Greater Dubuque Development Corporation, City of Dubuque, Mississippi River Museum, The Diamond Jo Casino, and a host of others have turned to Bryce for timely, effective solutions to their digital video, graphic design and web site needs. He played an integral role in the promotional effort for funding America's River Phase 1, the River Valley Initiative, and Dubuque's employee recruitment initiatives.

Bryce is Chairman of the Five Flags Civic Center Commission. He, alongside his brother and 365 co-founder Brad Parks, was honored as an Outstanding Young Iowan in 2004 and Bryce was presented a Life Membership by the Dubuque Jaycees, something that he's very proud of.

Upon the passing of his father, Robert, in February of 2009, Bryce proudly inherited the daunting role of Santa Claus children in the tri-state area as he coordinates the Marine Corps Toys For Tots program in Dubuque, Grant and JoDaviess Counties serving thousands children annually... yes, you can help out.

Bryce is also an accomplished musician, though he prefers the term rock star. You can catch him rockin' out with his band, Boomtangle on the weekends, but mostly he prefers to spend every free moment of his time (what free time?) with his awesome wife, Christy Monk, an architect for FEH Associates. Uh, let's see... he's addicted to audiobooks, he loves bacon and thus is also a master meat smoker and he can juggle. That about covers it.

Wall of Heroes

Click here to jump over and browse the hundreds of Veterans already being honored, like that handsome guy we chose as our featured photo (completely random, we swear!). Thanks to Tom, Perry, Johnny and all our friends at Radio Dubuque for undertaking this effort in honor of Tri-State Veterans.

Today's Photo of the Day features local singer/songwriter Maureen Kilgore performing live on the lovely outdoor patio at the Potosi Brewing Company and National Brewery Museum on Saturday night. 365 Publisher, Bryce Parks, and 365ink Food Critic, Rich Belmont, and their respective better halves were taking in a great dinner at the wonderfully restored historic facility and caught Maureen performing with local bluegrass legend, Denny Garcia, during their visit. Hmmm, guess what restaurant will featured in the next issue of 365ink? Click here or on the title above for just a couple more teaser shots of some of the tasty treats we enjoyed. Really, you've gotta see this food!

Bryce's Inkubator - June 23, 2011
They say if you put a frog (or is it a toad) in boiling water, they will jump right out. But if you put that same frog/toad/Frankenstein creature in cold water and slowly heat it, he will sit there and cook and never notice his surroundings changing. I believe something similar describes the relationship I have with my yard. If I woke up one day and all of my rocks and mulched areas had moved-in like foliage ninjas and strangled off my hostas, I would have that Fed Ex guy from the tv commercial bring me one of them laser guns that I could sign for and them kill the milkweed ninja in his tracks. But I don’t slay ninjas and clearly I don’t pull weeds. Mostly this is because I don’t notice and because I’m too damned busy to worry about it.
