The Polar Express 4D Experience

Nov. 25 to Jan. 29

A magical 15-minute 3D/4D version of The Polar Express movie starring Tom Hanks, The Polar Express 4-D Experience will open at the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium on Friday, Nov. 25. It will run daily through Jan. 29, 2012 — with the exception of Dec. 25, when the Museum & Aquarium is closed for the Christmas holiday. New Blood for the Dubuque Fighting Saints

When you think of “80s Night” at the game, do you think 1880s? When you think “Collector Cup Night,” do you think free logo athletic supporters for everyone? When you plan a fan giveaway in support of the Humane Society, is the first thing that comes to mind to give away dog chew toys in the shape of Michael Vick? If you answered yes to all three of these questions, you are probably Dan Lehv, the new President of the Dubuque Fighting Saints hockey team. Easy Garden Tomato Sauce

Today I come bearing another recipe. This one is from the Dubuque Farmers' Market on Facebook. I've been wondering what to do with my bag of cherry tomatoes from Tree of Life CSA. They're really sweet and weren't quite ripe last time I checked. This tomato sauce sounds like the purrrrfect thing to make :)

A Towering Addition to a Challenging Course
“Have Fun Storming the Castle!” Miracle Max’s line from “The Princess Bride” was the first thing that popped into my head when I first saw this photo come across my e-mail. When I first discussed the addition of the climbing tower to the Four Mounds Challenge Ropes Course as part of the 20th year of operation of the great team building venue, I clearly wasn’t thinking nearly big enough. The three sided, forty foot high rock climbing tower, located right next to the high ropes course, is definitely the new highlight element of the already venerable course. ( by Bryce Parks)
Art on the River 2011
The new 2011-12 season of Art on the River opened Thursday, July 14 with ten new pieces of public sculpture in the area around the Grand River Center and along the Riverwalk.  Here’s a sampling of a few of the pieces from the exhibit. Kees Ouwens, a sculptor from the Netherlands who now lives in Seiyo City, Ehime, Japan, won the $1,000 first prize for his sculpture “Whispering Stones,” constructed of bolted beams of steel rods with granite stone sculptures placed on top. The 2011-2012 exhibit will be on display until the end of June, 2012.  More information about the present display is at www.cityofdubuque.org/artontheriver. Click here to see even more photos of the artwork from a variety of angles on the 365 Facebook page.
