Little River Band

Thursday, February 23, 8 p.m., Mississippi Moon Bar, Diamond Jo Casino
It appears that there may be a subversive plot by the Australians to take over the Mississippi Moon Bar. With Air Supply just finishing another great show at the venue and Rick Springfield rocking the joint more than once, Little River Band is queued up for their second performance in Dubuque premier live music venue. Like the other two, they also hail from down under. Click the title for more info...

84th Academy Awards / Mindframe Oscars Party

This year’s award ceremony, the 84th Academy Awards, will be held in Hollywood on Sunday, February 26, 7:30 p.m. (Central Time).  If you, like most of us, did not receive an invitation to arrive on the red carpet in Hollywood, have no fear.  Mindframe Theaters will be hosting an Oscar party of their own with a real red carpet and the live Academy Award broadcast on the theater big screen (see the sidebar for details).

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD YOUR OSCARS BALLOT!

In anticipation of the big night, 365 sat down with Grant Grudzina and Steve Thompson, self-confessed film fanatics and Mindframe co-owners (along with Grudzina’s wife Marcya) to talk about the year in film, some of the nominees, and who the favorites might be to take home those coveted Oscar trophies.  From the big categories on down (opposite the order the awards will be presented on Oscar night) here are some highlights to look for.

Dr. Skrap's Completely Worthless Horoscopes (FEB 16 - 29)

Aries 3/21-4/19
While it’s often said that you need to be yourself, if “yourself” means you’re a 35-year-old My Little Pony fan posting about it on the Internet, it may be time to re-examine your priorities. Especially if you’re a dude.

Taurus  4/20-5/20
Yeah, you screwed up Valentine’s Day, and you got your special someone a bottle of Mad Dog 20 / 20 instead of a nice dinner, flowers and all that. Look on the bright side, though: Now that they’ve left you, the Mad Dog will get you nice and drunk for dirt-cheap.

Com’n Get Happy?

We’ve Found the Cause That Refreshes
by Christopher Kulovitz

I just got back from Los Angeles where I spent 4 days exploring how I can be “Happy.” No, It wasn’t a yoga position, a magic potion or a polarizing plunge into the Pacific from some cult philosophy with promises of instant peace, well-being, and hippy happiness. That would be medical marijuana. Instead, the journey I was on was about a bigger idea — a never-ending perception shift — from which I could glean some of its giddiness and return home to Dubuque to share and disseminate with the great folks of the tri-states. Just getting on a plane to warmer weather made me happy – but as I came to find out, the Happiness Factor has a much larger and longer-lasting shelf life.

365 Impact Awards
In three years of hosting the 365 Impact Awards, the event has really become quite the shindig. The overwhelming response to the first three 365 Impact Awards Shows was more than we at 365 had ever expected. In fact we still hear from our winners that receiving the Impact Award has helped them recruit members, grow their business, motivate their teams and for almost all of them that it just felt great to know that the community appreciates their hard work. First time attendees always comment that the can’t believe they have not been to the event before and can’t wait to do it again next year. Well friends, next year is here. Continue reading »
